Situation 01 · "I don't understand why I'm drawn to her"
You're thirty-two. Established, settled, steady job, normal friends. You meet her — unstable, something is always on fire around her, "free," unpredictable, sometimes she disappears for a week, then comes back with a storm and proposals to fly to Lisbon the day after tomorrow. You're drawn to her in a way you've never been drawn to anyone. Everyone around you says "not the one." You agree with them. But you're still drawn.
✗ The wrong way out
Explain to yourself that "this is love and it's deeper than logic," and that "everyone else just doesn't get it." Marry her. Five years into life inside the same storm — she's disappeared for a week again, again "not for you," again "I'll tell you later" — and ask yourself: "how could I not see what was obvious from day one." You saw it. The recognition was just louder.
✓ The right way out
Don't suppress the feeling — that doesn't work and isn't the point. But recognize it as a signal about your history, not about her suitability. Ask the direct question: "if that point inside me weren't there — would I still be drawn to her?" If the answer is no — that's recognition of the wound, not a choice of partner. It doesn't mean she doesn't deserve respect and a warm goodbye. It means building a life with her is investment in re-staging childhood. And the child inside isn't healed by her. That's separate work, and she has no part in it.
